Industry Perspective

The NBCC program is designed to be taught by industry members so that it is relevant to what employers are looking for in entry-level hires. There are opportunities to be involved in the program either as a meeting presenter or as a financial supporter.

Meeting Presenter

We are looking for contractors, business owners, and managers to come talk to the students about what they do in their daily construction careers. Every presenter is also asked to do a hands-on skill building activity with the students. For example, a plumbing contractor might show the students how to sweat copper pipe. The students are then given the opportunity to try it on their own to learn the skill. We have lots of ideas for hands-on activities and the Coordinators are there to support any presenters both before and during their visit.

If you would like to get involved an talk about your career, please contact Robin Bartholow, NBCC Director at (707) 542-9502 or send an email.

“When I hired a recent graduate I knew he had already shown a real desire to work in construction and had shown a solid work ethic. Plus, he was already certified in 1st Aid/CPR. It gave me the confidence to hire and train him for my company.”
